Cold Exposure
Another way of increasing your mitochondrial size and number is to shock your body a bit and put stress on it like cold showers or cold baths or swimming in the cold. This will build your mitochondrial size and numbers. If youâre going to try this method, I suggest you start with the warm shower first and end with the cold. This is easier. Believe me, I tried it, and it is tough going into a cold shower first thing in the morning, but do it, if possible. When I first learned this method, I thought of jumping into my cold pool in the deep end and having to swim to the shallow end to get out. I was all gung-ho about it and thought I definitely wanted to increase my mitochondrial size and numbers. How many times did I do this? Well, let me tell you that I couldnât bring myself to doing it even once. Maybe in the summer time but not in winter. I still have the intention, but I havenât brought myself to do it because there is a better way. Drinking the molecules sounds better to me, but if you want an invigorating experience that will wake you up and energize you and build your cellular engine, then by all means, cold water exposure is a good way.
We talked about water in the last chapter, and actually drinking water first thing in the morning and before bed time allows you to naturally build these little power houses, too. They naturally build at night when youâre sleeping and away from your eating window. There is always a reason for my recommendations.
To the question of âdo you need to supplement?â The answer is yes! You need to take a high-quality multivitamin and multimineral at the very least.
